MaxID Handheld Device now provides Animetrics Face Recognition

Palo Alto, CA and Conway, NH - May 8, 2009 - MaxID, a rugged mobile computer company, today announces the integration of Animetrics face recognition into the iDLMax, a handheld identity management device. The iDLMax is the first commercially-available mobile computing device to incorporate Animetric's superior 2D-to-3D face biometric technology.

The MaxID iDLMax handheld with built-in 2 megapixel camera and light source provides the mobile face camera for Animetrics thin-client application, Animetrics90 MobileID, which communicates seamlessly with Animetrics server based FIMS, Facial Identity Management System. FIMS analyzes the camera images in realtime and is able to provide the face biometric applications including verification (1 to 1 matching) and watchlist look up (1 to many search). The Animetrics patent pending 2D-to-3D face recognition technology provides important face biometric advantages such as pose and lighting correction enabling the iDLMax for practical real world conditions where other face biometric technologies have failed.

"Animetric's 2D-to-3D face analysis is superior to other face detection and matching algorithms," said Stephen Grist, CEO of MaxID. "Integrating Animetrics' MobileID in our handhelds adds to the power of our biometric applications. We've been very happy with the results and are pleased to be able to add this technology to our extensive biometric handheld portfolio." Animetrics integrated the A90 MobileID application into the iDLMax, a multimodal, rugged mobile computer that offers a complete set of features for virtually any identity management challenge including contact card, contactless card, barcode, optical fingerprint, and optional magnetic swipe and MRZ readers with a digital camera, GPS, and comprehensive wireless communications. The iDLMax is a complete, integrated mobile solution for all badging and identity management requirements. When users need to read fingerprints and now faces, TWIC, CAC, PIV, or FRAC cards, or driver's licenses, as well as use the other on-board biometric functions to verify identity, the iDLMax connected handheld device does it all in a light, compact, easy-to-use form factor.

"Animetrics integrated our MobileID client application on the iDLMax handheld providing a very effective user experience," said Paul Schuepp, Animetrics' President and CEO. "MaxID's rugged handheld providing multiple biometrics for positive identification and a high degree of flexibility in a variety of environmental conditions will expand the market and address critical needs for huge markets within the DOD, DHS and global security," Schuepp expounded.
